Why do both of my male animals feel the need to spit their dewormer down my shirt?
Arwen, my female dog, quietly swallows it.
Chekov, my male dog, quickly buries his head in my neckline and spits it down.
Zorro, my male horse, pretends to swallow, waits until I turn my back, then drapes his head over my shoulder and smears it all over my chest.

Who vs. Whom - A Simple Lesson
In question form:
Can you replace it with him/her? If yes, use whom.
Whom does Sarah love? becomes Does Sarah love him?
To whom did the prize go? becomes Did the prize go to her?
No words have been changed, just rearranged.
In standard sentence form:
Does a subject noun immediately follow? If yes, use whom.
His partner, Stan, whom he fancies.
The subject noun “he” came right after whom. This could be he/she/they/it/[Name].
There you go. Broken down to its simplest possible form. I never want to see it used wrong in fic again. Do we have an understanding? It’s so simple. I don’t know why teachers insist on explaining it with direct objects when most people don’t understand those.

Dear Authors
If you don’t have chapter links and/or a Masterpost in your LJ, then I’m not going to read it. Do you REALLY expect me to go flipping through every page of your journal trying to find the first chapter? Especially when your only tag (if you have one) is “fic”?
